With an orange press you can easily make your own orange juice. No additives at all. Tips before you buy can be found here.
According to current statistics, the average American drinks around seven litres of orange juice per year. That’s not even that much, if you compare it with the 100 liters of beer or 160 liters of coffee per capita in the United States. Perhaps also because many like their O juice freshly squeezed – and don’t always want to be prepared.  But with a good orange squeezer, you can do it in no time at all.

Buy Orange Squeezer – the best models

An orange press generally distinguishes between different types of presses. The manual press with a lot of effort, the press with a lever for the last remaining juice or the electric press. Here is an overview of popular models.

Bosch MCP3000 Zitruspresse – The Classic

  • Capacity: 800 ml
  • Connected load: 25 W
  • Large, removable juice container: 0.8 l

The design is almost old-fashioned and yet familiar – the MCP3000 citrus and orange press from Bosch is semi-electric. When you press the halved fruit onto the press, the electric starts to work and squeezes the juice out of the fruit. How thoroughly this takes place depends a little on you and the pressure you exert.

WMF STELIO Citrus press – The Practical

  • Material: Cromargan stainless steel 18/10, high-quality plastic – easy cleaning of the citrus juicer, as all removable parts are dishwasher-safe
  • The automatic start-stop function enables the engine to start automatically. The squeezed juice flows through the sieve insert, where coarse fruit flesh and seeds are retained, into the juice bowl and via the spout into the glass.
  • The small pressing cone is located inside the large pressing cone. If the large cone is to be used, it must be placed on the small pressing cone with the fruit flesh carriers.
  • Closable spout with drip protection: Before serving the glass, close the spout by grasping it on both sides and pressing it upwards.

Simply place the glass on the press, press the button, juice into the glass. It should always be that simple, then the per capita consumption of orange juice per year would also increase rapidly. Well, you still have to push a little – but the Stelio from WMF already does a lot of work for you.

Original Lumaland Stainless Steel Juicer – The productive one

  • Juicer made of high-quality cast iron, stable and reliable: The robust kitchen machine made of heavy cast iron is particularly slip-resistant; its rubber feet give the manual juicer additional support – no slipping during juicing on the table or kitchen worktop.
  • 20% more juice than conventional presses: Thanks to the optimum lever action and the newly developed lever arm press mechanism, the juice can be squeezed out manually without great effort; 20% more juice gain than with conventional presses, each fruit is completely emptied and delivers the maximum juice gain – the glass of orange juice tastes fruity, fresh and unadulterated.
  • Squeeze delicious juice from lemons, oranges, limes, apples: With minimal effort, the specially shaped press cone enables maximum pressing results; completely manually, without electricity, without motor, without noise – delicious juice from vegetables and fruit.
  • Durable, maintenance-free, powerful: the Lumaland Profi citrus juicer is not only durable and maintenance-free, the stainless steel funnels and cones are also easy to remove and clean in the dishwasher; with excellent pressing function for gastronomic purposes and daily consumption of fresh vitamins – modern design in a cool chrome look metal.

You have a little bit of space left in the kitchen, and a complete juice yield of your fruit is important to you? Then the Lumaland juicer with a large lever is a great alternative for simply squeezing out the fruit. In addition to the chic design, the yield during pressing is particularly convincing.

You want to buy an orange press? You should pay attention to that.

The orange press as such is still relatively young – it has been in circulation for barely more than 100 years and, thanks to its conical shape and grooves, enables juice to be pressed easily. However, it is not always that simple. Anyone who has squeezed out a dozen oranges for the family for half an hour and watched their loved ones drop the juice in 30 seconds with a deaf arm knows the challenges.

Modern presses with electric motors, ergonomically sensible levers or even fully automatic systems make life considerably easier for us. You have to decide for yourself which model is best for you. If you don’t have much space in the kitchen and don’t need a fully automatic machine, a simple, electric orange press is a good choice. Anyone who attaches great importance to squeezing the fruit down to the last drop should flirt with a lever press, as this can exert very great pressure on the fruit.

How many oranges for a litre of orange juice?

We don’t like to say it again, but it depends a bit on the press. Besides, oranges are not always the same size and the same yield. As a rough rule of thumb, you can estimate 2 kilos of oranges for a litre of orange juice. With a lever press, 1.5 kilos can be enough for normal-sized oranges, with a small electric hand press it can even be 2.5 kilos.

In any case, we recommend that you buy a few more oranges than you need so that you don’t end up with too little juice from the orange press. It’s better to eat a few oranges in the classic way if you have any left over – after all, vitamin C is never wrong!
